Halloween Party Food: Super Cool Snail Sandwiches

Snail Sandwiches for halloween

A fantastically fun way to get kids to eat their sandwiches.

Ingredients (makes about 28 snail sandwiches):

4 medium sized tortilla wraps

28 Small gherkins

Salami (or another choice of filling)

Lettuce (or another choice of filling)

Lay your tortilla wrap flat on a work surface. Cut off the rounded ends of the wrap to make it square. Spread a thin layer of margarine over the wrap, then put on some lettuce and salami. (you can use any filling instead of lettuce and salami so long as it’s colourful and not too fiddly, like jam, cream cheese and salmon, ham, etc…)

Next, roll up the tortilla wrap nice and tight. Then cut the roll into about 7 or more slices.

Place each roll onto a plate so it is standing up.

Next take your gherkins and slice off the end of each one at an angle. Pierce 2 holes into the top of the uncut end and insert the chives for the antennas. (you could tie a knot at the end of each chive to create the effect of the eyes if you want)

Next, slot the gherkin snail body just underneath each roll. The sliced end should fit snugly into each roll.

You can use white bread instead of tortilla wraps for this. Just take the crusts off and then use a rolling pin to flatten the bread out a bit before starting.
